And the worst mom in the world award goes too......

me. well last week i took a fall down the stairs while holding annalee. she would have been safer if she had just gone down by herself but my 140 pounds fell on top of her. she let out a blood curdling scream in pain and i was a little blurry on what happened. i landed straight on my back and my head whipped forward and back cracked hard and my sight kinda went. i think this was the lord blessing me not to see what i had done to my baby....because if i had i probably would have passed out. next thing i know i was sliding down the stairs and was trying to catch my breath. mason ran in the room and said..." mom what did you do to annalee?" yeah...then demanded to eat. nice huh? well she was crying really hard and i was able to make a bottle to try to calm her down and asses the situation. i remember her body getting caught underneath me but not much more. so i looked at her leg and she would not move it at all. i tried to tickle it...no movement. she cried through her bottle and i knew i needed to get her checked out. i called my mom and she stated, "nichole it can not be broken because babies bones don't break." i reassured her something was wrong. well..i asked her to call the dr. because if i did they would not be able to hear me over her screaming. they stated they would not talk to her so they would call me back. so i called my sister because her father-in-law is a podiatrist and i thought her knee was hurt. he was at home for lunch and said i could bring her by. he suggested that i take her to get an x-ray. he said it is probably a twisted knee....but just to make sure. i rushed to gets x-rays and she screamed when they had to straighten her knee. i waited for the dr. to call me back and when he did it was news i was not prepared for.....a fractured femur. WHAT????? babies bones are so flexible AND the femur is the hardest bone to break in the body. yep...i accomplished both. so the next day we took her to get this fancy body brace. luckily it did not break all the way through so she does not need a body cast. could you imagine? she pukes on it all the time so it is really nasty. three weeks and hopefully it is off.....she desperately wants to sleep on her belly and wants to stand. so yes.....i won the award.

Ohh! I'm so sorry for you and Annalee! If it makes you feel any better - two days ago as I was buckling Ryder into his carseat I totally pinched his chubby (face)cheek into the snap-buckle thing! He yelped and I cried cause I felt so bad. Your a great momma and things like that just happen sometimes.

On a happier note - I LOVE your house! Congratulations!

oh!! my broken heart!! You must feel awful! Poor baby and poor mom! It's ok, lady- it happens to all of us- and you feel awful when you accidentally hurt your child, but accidents happen. You're a great mom and your children are blessed that you are their mommy :)Just ask 'em- they'll tell you so!

oh I am convinced my bladder is located too close to my eyeballs, because i tear up all the time! I just seriously cried for you both! I tend to watch a movie in my head about what I am reading. I am so sorry! But glad you are both ok. Hang in there!!
My D had a broken femur at 8months. It was a clean break, and he had to get it checked out every year for the 1st 3 of his life, but no complications since then!
On a side note- if u feel like getting out next saturday, I know u said you dont scrapbook, but there are a handful of girls are coming to visit and/or work on whatever projects they have going on right now. (sewing pillowcase dresses, knitting, cards, etc.) So u r welcome to join us if you feel up to it! (and if not that is ok too!)
